Tackle Football
What to expect
There are two divisions of Tackle Football.
3rd - 4th Grade
This team is part of the River Valley Youth Football League which is a league run out of Granger. Many of these games will be in the Des Moines area or at our home field. Games are typically Sunday.
There is a weight limit in this division on carrying the ball at 85 lbs for player safety.
The focus of this division is building the safe fundamentals of contact. Many coaches are USAFootball certified in the practice of safe contact.
5th - 6th Grade
The teams in the league are typically within 30 minutes of Carroll but can be upwards of 60 minutes. Travel for these divisions is considered minimal. Games are typically Sunday.
There is a weight limit in this division on carrying the ball at 130 lbs.
The focus of this season is improving on the base fundamentals of contact.
All
In all divisions the players and families will be responsible for providing:
Proper Fitting helmet
Proper fitting shoulder pads
Padded practice pants
Padded undershirt (Optional)
Cleats
Any sports store such as Hibbett or Scheels should be able to get you fit properly for a helmet and shoulder pads regardless of if you purchase with them.
All coaches are mentored by Ben Alford for age appropriate drills and safe contact.
Uniform Jersey, Pants, and Helmet Stickers will be provided as part of your fees.
A head coach and assistant coaches will be selected and mentored by the Chargers league director to ensure your child has the best chance at success.
Practice count and duration are determined by your team's head coach and will be communicated via Stack Team App.
Depending on performance, there may be a 2 day state tournament at the end of the season.
